Weekend Hospitality Coordinator
The Queenswood Centre for Spiritual Growth in Victoria is looking for a special person with excellent management skills and a warm, hospitable personality who would enjoy working in the unique atmosphere of a retreat centre. Our retreat centre has been in operation for 40 years and is located on 14 acres of forest near UVic. We welcome groups and individuals for personal retreats, group programs and facility rentals. This live-in position provides full-week room and board in exchange for weekend duties (Friday afternoon to Monday morning). Responsibilities include reception services and supervision of guest services to ensure that our guests are well looked-after. This position acts as the senior staff person on-site each weekend, providing leadership and supervision for all operations of the facility, including emergency response.
This position requires a person who:
·Would welcome the opportunity to work only on weekends, in exchange for room and board
·Enjoys interacting with people and has a talent for making them feel welcome and comfortable
·Has demonstrated qualities of patience, adaptability, attention to detail and the ability to see the “big picture”
·Employment experience managing hospitality or client services, or equivalent related experience.
·Demonstrated “can-do” attitude and resourcefulness in a changing work environment
·Proven communication skills in a team setting, and demonstrated ability to support and enhance teamwork
·The position will require the ability to use the Centre’s computer booking program
·Computer skills and an understanding of audio visual equipment would be an asset
The successful candidate will enjoy our pool, library, gardens and forest trails, and close proximity to the beach. Please note: although this position provides room and board rather than a salary, benefits and extended health insurance will be provided. This position will begin September 1, 2008.
